Who is Kim Dotcom


 Kim Dotcom (real name Kim Schmitz) was born in the city of Kiel (Germany) on January 21, 1974, his friends call him Kimble.
Kim Dotcom is an entrepreneur and computer scientist, founder of the website Megaupload and other partner sites. Before becoming a businessman, was convicted of credit card fraud, hacking, abuse and misuse of information.


In 2001, Schmitz bought shares worth $ 375,000 from the company almost bankrupt LetsBuyIt.com and subsequently announced its intention to invest 50 million euros in the company.
Without anyone knowing, Schmitz did not have the funds available to invest money, but the announcement caused the share value of LetsBuyIt.com rise almost 300%. Schmitz quickly sold their shares, taking with it a profit of $ 1.5 million. Schmitz had also obtained an overdraft of 280,000 euros from Monkey AG, a company for which Schmitz had served as Chairman of the Board. The funds should be paid to Kimvestor AG. Therefore, both Monkey AG as Kimvestor broke.
In January 2002, Schmitz was arrested in Bangkok, Thailand, deported to Germany, and sentenced to a probationary sentence of one year and eight months, and a fine of 100,000 euros, recognizing his case as the case of insider largest then Germany. Schmitz also pleaded guilty to embezzlement in November 2003 and was sentenced to two years of probation.
