25 whales found dead on Florida beaches

Twenty five whales "pilot" were found dead Thursday in the beaches of the southwest coast of Florida.
Blair Mase, fisheries officer of the Federal Government for the Ocean and Atmosphere, said the whales were sighted by navigators in Kice Island, according to AP.
The whales were part of a group that was seen swimming on Sunday in Naples Bay. Marine mammals were observed again on Monday about 3 kilometers from the Marco Island.

Autopsies showed they had an empty stomach. Not determined the cause of death. Another eight pilot whales died in Lover's Key, near Fort Myers, early in the week.
Pilot whales are likely to be stranded en masse because they tend to be very close social groups.
More than 50 pilot whales were stranded in the Everglades in December.
