Transportation planners unveiled Tuesday the potential routes for a possible light rail service between Miami and
Miami Beach, with a line that would cross Biscayne Bay by the MacArthur Causeway and the other through the Julia Tuttle Viaduct.
The Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez and Miami, Tomas Regalado, said his preferred route was the MacArthur Causeway,

but the transportation director of Miami Beach, Jose Gonzalez, said his city has not yet decided which viaduct should be used. Gonzalez said that due to other commitments, the Mayor of Miami Beach Philip Levine, could not attend the meeting at which the project options were discussed.
"This is a vital project for the Miami-Dade County in view of traffic congestion worsens between Miami and
Miami Beach," Gimenez said. "We will not be talking about this for the next 20 years. We want this to be done. "
