The Associated Press has tried to predict who will dominate most of the music gala on Sunday, in which Smith, Beyonce and Pharrell are the main contenders with six nominations each.
The Grammys will air live on CBS at 8 pm EDT (0100 GMT). Here are some predictions:
ALBUM OF THE YEAR
NOMINEES: "Morning Phase" Beck; "Beyoncé" Beyoncé; "X" Ed Sheeran; "In the Lonely Hour" by Sam Smith; "G I R L" Pharrell.
Fekadu: We all thought that "Beyoncé" was the favorite for this award for its impressive launch and because Adele did not show anything. But then came the brother of Adele, the British crooner Sam Smith, with his sad ballads and love songs consecutive successes achieved in the radio and was certified platinum. Maybe now Smith shares some fans with Beyoncé, but Sunday Beyoncé fans, known as Beyhive, will become brave.

RECORDING OF THE YEAR
NOMINEES: "Fancy" by Iggy Azalea with Charli XCX; "Chandelier" by Sia; "Stay With Me (Darkchild Version)" by Sam Smith; "Shake It Off" by Taylor Swift; "All About That Bass" Meghan Trainor.
MOODY: "Fancy" and "All About That Bass" speak compulsory way of saying "yes, we are in contact with the selfie generation"; a nice gesture with the boys, but not win. It comes down to Taylor, Sia and Sam. Sia song not resonated with so many people and Taylor is perhaps too sticky. Sam is also expected to win in this category for his fiery performance, too lit as not recognize it.
Fekadu: Usually say that a song like "Bass", despite being one of the biggest hits of the year not win, mainly because it's a new artist. At the same time, how to remember 2014 without that addictive song? And since Trainor is an experienced composer, he followed with another hit song and album in the top of the charts. It would be normal that it takes the win.

NOMINEES: "All About That Bass" Meghan Trainor and Kevin Kadish; "Chandelier" Sia and Jesse Shatkin; "Shake It Off" by Taylor Swift, Max Martin and Shellback; "Stay With Me (Darkchild Version)" by Sam Smith, James Napier and William Phillips; "Take Me to Church" of Hozier.
Fekadu: The Swift songs, known by his fans as Tay Tay, and Trainor seem too playful to win this award. The success of Hozier might be too new for voters, so just Sia and Sam are. Sia deserves this award, not only for "Chandelier" but by writing songs for female pop stars like Rihanna, Beyoncé and Kylie Minogue. But it's okay to not let them see these days because Smith's prize.
MOODY: Ay! is difficult to choose. I agree with Sam Smith has many possibilities. Who could see those sad eyes and say no? But since this award is a composition I think the Recording Academy will give you the opportunity to reward Sia not only for "Chandelier" but by their years composing masterfully for herself and others, with topics including "Pretty Hurts "Beyoncé.
NEW ARTIST
NOMINEES: Iggy Azalea, Bastille, Brandy Clark, Haim, Sam Smith.
MOODY: Really this is a competition? Sam Smith.
Fekadu: Who said what? ¿IGGY? Sam Smith this prize.
BEST POP PERFORMANCE SOLISTA
NOMINEES: "All of Me (Live)" by John Legend; "Chandelier" by Sia; "Stay With Me (Darkchild Version)" by Sam Smith; "Shake It Off" by Taylor Swift; "Happy (Live)" by Pharrell.
Fekadu: Pharrell's success came long before they can be considered as voters did not care nominate their live version the best record of the year. There is no way for you to go without this award.
MOODY: I think the academy deemed gave him all the love possible Pharrell last year. This year's Grammy love Sam Smith and this has it safe.
ROCK ALBUM

MOODY: I guess the Grammy voters are users of iTunes and maybe did not appreciate the gift of U2 or not music. But I also believe that like all things that Beck and Beck - who will not win in the main category - this trophy will be.
Fekadu: I would think that Beck will win because he is nominated for album of the year, but I think the Grammy Petty recognize an extraordinary year that included an album in the top of the pop charts.
INTERPRETATION OF R & B
NOMINEES: "Drunk In Love" by Beyonce with Jay Z; "New Flame" with Chris Brown and Usher Rick Ross; "It's Your World" by Jennifer Hudson with R. Kelly; "Like This" Ledisi; "Good Kisser" Usher.
Fekadu: Will Beyonce with Jay Z.
MOODY: Even though shocked when referring to the abuse she suffered Tina Turner, "Jayonce" is being carried.
RAP SONG
NOMINEES: "Anaconda" Nicki Minaj; "Bound 2" Kanye West with Charlie Wilson; "I" Kendrick Lamar; "We Dem Boyz" Wiz Khalifa; "0 to 100 / The Catch Up" Drake.

Fekadu: Kendrick Lamar suffers India.Arie effect: lose the seven awards in your debut year but win two the following year.Justice!
COUNTRY ALBUM
NOMINEES: "Riser" Dierks Bentley; "The Outsiders" by Eric Church; "12 Stories" Brandy Clark; "Platinum" Miranda Lambert; "The Way I'm Livin '" Lee Ann Womack.
Fekadu: Women have to fight in country music, so it's great that the Recording Academy recognizes three wonderful female voices in this category. But Lambert has dominated every country awards, and there is enough for this genre (perhaps too many), so we will do the same at the Grammys. It's a shame that "Platinum" was not nominated for album of the year.
MOODY: It may not be the ideal scenario, but women come with everything and are giving the boys battle. Lambert is a great example of this. Perhaps dominate here, but it would not surprise me if Clark steals the prize. Its impact as one of the few gay people in country music has probably earned him some fans and maybe even a trophy.
