Punta del Este is a city located in peninsular southern tip of Uruguay, in the department of Maldonado.
It is one of the most important resorts in Latin America. It is located on a narrow strip of land that separates
the Rio de la Plata from the Atlantic Ocean (although both are drenched shores and marine).
