Of Scottish descent , Grant was born in upstate New York. She is the daughter of Internet domain investor Rob Grant and Patricia Grant, and has two younger brothers, Charlie Grant and photographer Caroline "Chuck" Grant. He grew up in Lake Placid , where his life was characterized by "walking in the woods and write in their book " . Developed at age 14 years a serious addiction to alcohol , so his father sent to a private boarding school in Connecticut at age 15.
During his stay at the boarding was "written ostracized ." At age 18, he moved to New York City , where he began to study for Metaphysics at the University of Fordham . While in the city, his uncle taught him to play guitar , which Elizabeth used to start writing songs and soon started performing in the clubs of Brooklyn, making presentations with winning the money he needed .
A year before graduating from Fordham University , a record company offered him a contract, which she accepted , and used the first preview to move to a trailer park on the outskirts of the city after graduation. The first works of the singer were mostly as Kill Kill EP (2008) and digital download albums , which she and her label sent to producers get interested in collaborating.
During that short time the singer changed his stage name multiple times, until finally change to " Lana Del Rey " in 2009. That same year a producer agree to make a studio album with her, and in 2010 went on sale as a digital download aka Lana del Ray Lizzy Grant. Shortly after the singer requested that the disc was removed from the market because it was not satisfied with the number of songs and wanted to change his name to " Ray " a " King." After removing it , he asked the record company to sell all their material and then resigned.
