Matthew David McConaughey (Uvalde, Texas, USA, November 4, 1969) is an actor and producer of film and television. Known for his roles in films such as A Time to Kill (1996), The Wedding Planner (2001), How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (2003), Sahara (2005), Failure to Launch (2006), Fool's Gold (2008 ), The Wolf of Wall Street (2013) and Dallas Buyers Club.
Matthew McConaughey was born on November 4, 1969 in Uvalde, Texas, United States. He grew up in the Texas town of Longview. Her mother Kay is a teacher and his father Jim, now deceased, was an American professional football player. After finishing high school, Matthew went to live in Australia for a period of one year, working as a dishwasher. He eventually returned to the United States and enrolled in law at the University of Austin, Texas. Before one of his tests he discovered a book called The Greatest Salesman in the World and decided to change his vocation as a lawyer actor.
