Brokers unit Homeland Security Investigations on Monday asked the help of owners and dancers clubs nudism in South Florida to identify victims of human trafficking, three weeks after a 13 -year-old was discovered Madonna dancing on nudist club in Miami Beach.
The meeting was an attempt by the federal government to secure the cooperation of members of the industries considered important
objective for criminal organizations to attract victims of trafficking.
The issue attracted the attention of the media when on January 6 , police arrested three people accused of forcing the 13 years working in the Club Madonna and prostitution . A fourth person was arrested later and Miami Beach officials then closed the club.
At Monday's meeting , some club managers said they usually check the identification documents of the dancers to make sure they are not minors.
" We reviewed the documents," said Enrique Arellano , a DJ in the club Solid Gold in Fort Lauderdale. "We are at least two forms of identification such as a driver's license or school documents if the applicant goes to school or college."
A 23- year-old , who identified himself as Kendra said dancing at a club where administrators check the ages of the artists. He also noted that women who do not have 21 years old will have to wear a bracelet so waiters do not serve them alcohol.
Monday's event was organized by the group Club Operators Against Sex Trafficking ( COAST ) in collaboration with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), a division of the Police Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE ) .
Among the indicators , he said, is the possibility that a young woman seeking employment in a strip club is made accompanied by someone who speaks it, or has control of all your documents.
Introducing the agents HSI who spoke at the event, Spencer told the story of Shelley , a single mother in her 20s , who was found in a strip club in Florida by a customer who then became victim of trafficking human.
Shelley ended up being kidnapped , raped and beaten by the customer. He was held captive for months , working as a stripper and prostitute in private parties - until he finally summoned the courage to go to police, Spencer said.
